SEALER APPLICATION & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
A minimum of at least two light coats of a sealer, such as our MatteKote, are recommended. Let the surface dry between coats per the sealer manufacturer's recommendations (30 minutes to 1 hour for MatteKote). The use of a lint free cotton mop with application strokes from side to side is the recommended application procedure. Wait until final coat of MatteKote is completely dry before exposing to heavy traffic or furniture placement.

After grouting the tile, clean-up should be completed immediately by polishing the tile with clean, dry burlap or course cheese cloth. When grout joints have cured sufficiently, seal tile and grout joints with at least one coat of an acrylic, stone tile sealer such as MatteKote. Use conventional methods to apply, such as a cotton mop, sponge, paint pad, sheepskin roller or a large natural bristle, quality paint brush.
Read the sealer label. The tile can be kept clean and beautiful by dust mopping or vacuuming. If spillage of foreign material occurs, mop with clean, warm water and a mild detergent. Due to varying conditions from job to job, maintenance personnel will need to use some discretion as to when the tile needs re-sealing. We strongly recommend that a wax, such as our Super Sealer Wax be used as a finishing coat. This will act as a sacrificial coat to protect the tile and sealer
Stone tile with a flat exterior "stone" finish was developed primarily for outdoor use. It has excellent slip and frost resistance. Your "stone" tile will look better and perform longer if certain installation and maintenance procedures are observed. Read StoneKote Sealer package label
Excellent tile setting and grouting guidelines are set forth in the "Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation" and the tile contractor is urged to give due consideration to the various methods presented. Before grouting, wet the tile thoroughly. The product's extra slip resistant quality may present a special concern during grout clean up. Plenty of clean water and a little extra diligence will go a long way in producing a beautiful tile floor. Concrete tile normally comes factory sealed. An exterior life expectancy of approximately five years can be expected from the sealer. To make cleanup easier, apply a coat of StoneKote if a flat “stone” finish has already been applied at the factory.
When "stone" finish tile is used in an interior application it may be necessary to reseal the tile after installation for easier cleaning and maintenance. In exterior applications, usually a hosing off under pressure will be sufficient to dislodge any surface dirt. Slight staining may be treated with a detergent cleaner. If harsh detergent is used, it is recommended that the area be re-treated with "stone" sealer. Never use acid.
